Baby names selections for the week

The names discussion is really taking off. Thank you for all your valuable input. Our tack this weekend was to get away from the Ernestine type name (not baby e.'s real name) ... maybe go with something more modern like:

Sapphire -- or Safire
Maybe Wizzerd
or
What about Gigabit?

Or are those actually post-modern? I am never quite sure about that stuff.

Anything can be "post-modern," dahlink, that's the whole point of post-modernism.

I had a whole slew of baby names suggested to me last week, but they were all boyz. Sorry, but some of 'em were quite good!

My husband has been trying to convince our friends to name their baby-to-be "The Wizard". As in, look, it's John, Sue and The Wizard Smith!

I don't think it is working.

Okay, if you want something more "modern" you at least have to consider Terabyte. Although, I'm sure you don't want something that sounds like "bite" in your child's name.

Oooh, Sa-fire - horrible singer from the 80's.

I can't compete with this so just thanking you for your comment. Funny the way golf clubs became a part of both our lives over the weekend. Not to sound sexist, but men bewilder me on occasion.

I knew a woman named Phred, which I always thought was cool. Her parents really named her that.

My childhood Siamese cat was named Safire. If your little one is named that, she'll be in good compnay.

Also, her breath might smell of kibble.

I like Blaise for a boy. My husband was not as into it as I was (pronounced Blaze) but its a great middle name. I also love Ezekiel and Zeke for short. Jasper is awesome and Xander and... what about Gehry? Kinda modern and architecture-y.

My husband wanted to name Archer, "Awesome" I'll let you have that one too. Bastian is cute too, more modern than Sebastian I think which is also a great name. Or you can maybe name him IPOD? What about Pheolix. Modern spelling on Felix? Olivier instead of Oliver. But seriously, one of my favorite baby names (if its a girl) is Paper. I think its cute. Serious.

What about, Hybrid! Unisex AND energy conscious. ????
