Hockey Night in Canada, indeed.

So we said all we'd say about TV and then yesterday...

Mother dashes to grocery store while child sleeps. Father is responsible for post nap child care. Child is sleeping late and will be likely very hungry when she gets up. There is pizza left in the fridge from Friday.

Mother approaches the house laden with groceries. It is after 5 pm drapes are still drawn in child's bedroom; there will be hell to pay if the kid is still sleeping because Dad wants to watch hockey.

From inside
Father's voice: Coming.
Mother: OK.
Door opens, Father steps aside, TV is on, Sens lead 2-0.
Child seated in chair opposite TV eating huge helping of pizza beams widely: COME IN, Mommy!
Mother laughs heartily and Sens score.
Child: Hoooockeeeeeeeeeee! Look Mommy, Hockey puck!

Face it, there have to be exceptions to prove the rule, right?

I am no huge hockey fan, but I live with one, I take care of two more, and a fourth swings in on alternate weekends. There is no escaping it.

Sens are in, Lightning is out; will they face the Habs or Carolina? Carolina, I fear, but wouldn't it be cool to have a Sens-Habs series???

Well, it would be in THIS city. Whew.

I think it's called flexibility. Or accepting the inevitable. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em?

That's what I did with pro football. It beat hanging out in the kitchen with my mil and her sisters although it didn't make me many points with the ladies.

Well, it IS the playoffs, after all. If now is not the time for exceptions, when is? :-)
