My Dear Child
Standing in front of the fountain on Fraser Street last week she made a wish. In a loud clear voice:
"I wish... I..... could jump into a book!!!"
Now she also told the circulation staffer at the library check-out "I don't like you or your shirt." but I prefer the power of that first image.

In her defense: library circ staff do have bad fashion sense.
I want to jump into a Simon&Garfunkal song. Well, I did when I was a tortured teen dressing in desert boots, beige cords and chunky wool sweaters...yeah, I had bad fashion sense, too. I was getting in touch with my inner librarian.

I'm totally using that on the next surly customer service representative I encounter.
Has she been watching blues clues?
And I have some bad fashion sense these days, too. Today, I sport the figure-obliterating blue sweater, but since Misterpie has stacked a hundred or so CDs on top of my sweater chest and I'm also dressing around uterine growth, I'm screwed.
I don't know, the second has a kind of bolshy force that I like. But you're right - the first is a tad more heart-lifting for a book-loving parent.
Isn't she lucky that, at that age, she can do so repeatedly...I wish for that, myself, sometimes.
That wish says A LOT about good parenting! Applause.
