Did I lock that door? : a vignette
I make my post-nursing session way across the dining room. I feel the familiar draft from our open front door!
#^&$@*??!!!
Where is the toddler? My heart in my throat. I am filled with fear. I await the screech of tires.
Behold the moppet perched at the head of the stairs. OUTSIDE. Clad in a purple t-shirt, blue terry training pants and purple rubber boots she declares, "I take a step? I am going outside."
NNOOOOOooooooooo!

Yah, been there.. totally recommend a high-up security latch or chain.. works well until they start pulling a chair over to undo the latch
Have a latch on our back door for that reason. Once Ian's figured out how to open the front, will have to do the same there too.
OMG, that is my worst nightmare, honestly. I've already been starting on the "you never go out of the house without a parent" business pre-emptively. Now I must get a latch, too. Eeek! (It's also why at night, we lock gates at the heads of BOTH stairways between our bedrroms and the front door. Honestly, those stories of wandering toddlers in the middle of winter nights freak me right into total paranoia!)
